Ραγδαίες είναι οι εξελίξεις σχετικά με το ΧΥΤΑ στο Γραμματικό. Όπως αναφέρει η πρόεδρος του Εξωραϊστικού Συλλόγου Νέου Βουτζά “Η Πρόοδος” κα Έμυ Κροκίδη, το Ταμείο Συνοχής αποφάσισε να ακυρώσει την χρηματοδότηση για το ΧΥΤΑ Γραμματικού!
Αναλυτικά σε ανάρτηση της αναφέρει:
Το Ταμείο Συνοχής αποφάσισε , στις 3/2/22, να ακυρώσει τη χρηματοδότηση του έργου ΧΥΤΑ/Υ στο Γραμματικό. Ενημερωθήκαμε από την απάντηση της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής σε ερώτηση του Κροάτη ευρωβουλευτή Ivan Vilibor Sinči την οποία προκάλεσε ο κ. Κ. Γκίκας.
Υποθέτω, ότι η Περιφέρεια Αττικής το γνωρίζει!!!!! Και το ερώτημα που εμείς θέτουμε είναι με ποιά κονδύλια σχεδιάζει να κατασκευάσει το έργο;;;;Επίσης η ΕΕ είναι ενήμερη για τις προσφυγές των φορέων στο Συμβούλιο της Επικρατείας…

In the last decade, the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU) imposed two fines on Greece concerning the inadequate management of its waste, on the basis of infringement procedures initiated by the Commission.
The first one concerns the fact that Greece has not closed and rehabilitated all the illegal waste dumping sites that exist across the county (ruling of 2 December 2014 in Case C-378/13) and the second one concerns the inadequate management of the hazardous waste generated in Greece (ruling of 7 September 2016 in Case C-584/14).
The Commission is not pursuing any infringement case against Greece as regards the Grammatiko landfill and the CJEU has not imposed any fine on this matter.
Without prejudice to the Commission’s powers as guardian of the Treaties, national administrative and/or judicial bodies are primarily responsible to verify compliance of individual projects with the EU environmental legislation and provide the appropriate means to address the matter.
The Commission is aware that the Greek Council of State has delivered several rulings concerning this project, all in favour of its continuation.λ
The project ‘Construction of a landfill in North East Attika at Mavro Vouno Grammatikou’, co-financed by the Cohesion Fund[1] in the programming period 2000-2006 concerned the construction of a waste management plant in Grammatiko area.
The project aimed at creating a fully controlled landfill, in order to bring to an end the uncontrolled disposal of waste in Attica. The project had to be completed and in use by 31 December 2011.
As the project was not completed and in use and not carried out according to its objectives, the Commission issued Decision C(2022)729 of 3 February 2022[2] cancelling all of the Cohesion Fund assistance granted to the project.

The Grammatiko landfill poses risks to the water table and to the health of the residents of Attica and beyond. The site has been built on streams, in violation of Greek and European legislation and the site selection criteria. Thus, the project is dangerous to the environment and there is a constant risk of pollution and environmental degradation.
1.Have the Greek authorities been fined for allowing this environmentally damaging and prohibited work to go ahead and for the embezzlement of European funds and European taxpayers’ money?
2.After each rainfall, landslides occur and slopes are transported to the wider coastal area of the Southern Evoikos Gulf. Will the landfill site be immediately treated and restored to its original form and will trees be planted to avoid landslides and transporting slopes?
3.Will the Commission use the Grammatiko landfill as a discussion point and case study for future European projects and to change EU legislation to protect the environment and European taxpayers’ money?
